ABOUT US - Building on Success

Since 1992, the WAIT Training curriculum has evolved, and so has the organization. After partnering with various organizations and distributors of the curriculum for more than a decade, WAIT Training became an educational, nonprofit agency in 2003. Thanks in part to the recognized performance and professionalism of WAIT Training, the organization was awarded five federal grants to serve adolescents, parents and leaders in Colorado and throughout the United States. These grants have allowed WAIT Training to broaden its vision, mission and opportunities to provide relationship education and support for every age and stage of life.

MISSION STATEMENT
WAIT Training exists to foster healthy outcomes for youth and healthy family formations as adults. The organization's goals are to:
• increase the value of marriage
• delay sexual debut by promoting sexual abstinence
• reduce individuals’ number of sexual partners
• instill the skills and character needed to prepare individuals for a faithful, lifelong and mutually satisfying relationship in marriage

RELATIONSHIP EDUCATION FOR  ADOLESCENTS/YOUNG ADULTS
The teen years are a very critical stage for healthy relationship development.  As young people are given greater freedom and develop more independence,  the opportunities for life-impacting mistakes are greatly increased. Related risky behaviors such as drug/alcohol use and premarital sexual activity can derail a  young person’s future dreams and goals. The WAIT Training curriculum was developed specifically to educate, equip and inspire young people to protect their heart, body, mind and spirit (a key component for abstinence education to be successful). Before teachers and leaders can use the curriculum with young people, they must become trained and certified. This process protects the program’s integrity and enhances the effectiveness of teaching WAIT Training.

DURING WAIT TRAINING, YOUNG PEOPLE LEARN ABOUT:

• personality types and improving communication
• the benefit of learning their individual love language
• the progressive steps of intimacy
• clever, confident ways to say “no” to sexual activity
• vital information and skills for friendship, dating and compatibility
• the truth; that everybody is NOT doing it (about half of high school students are still virgins)
• how to dream and make plans for the future, and then live in the present to achieve those goals
• practical steps for forming healthy boundaries and respectful, healthy relationships
• the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual risks of sexual activity
• skills on how to return to abstinence once sexually active

RELATIONSHIP EDUCATION FOR COUPLES

The selection of a mate is one of the most important decisions a person will make in their lives. WAIT Training provides evaluation skills to help reduce relationship strain due to incompatibilities. Regardless of mate selection, however, conflict is inevitable with couples. The key to maintaining healthy relationships is commitment to quality communication — something that doesn’t always come naturally. To combat the tendency to escalate conversations, WAIT Training teaches couples proven communication techniques and conflict resolution skills to help them truly listen to each other and reach mutually satisfactory solutions.

The rise of technology, materialism and narcissism have contributed to a disposable mindset that prioritizes short-term satisfaction over long-term success. For many, this mindset has permeated marriage to the detriment of our culture. WAIT Training is committed to casting a bigger vision for marriage—one that’s rooted in reality, yet fully celebrates the positive and powerful potential of faithful, committed relationships. The opportunity for marriage transformation is enormous—and very realistic—and is a key objective for the organization.

WAIT Training provides relationship education and decision-making training (often at no expense to couples), as part of its mission to solidify marriages and strengthen the home environment. These trainings provide practical insights into dealing with the most common challenges for married couples.

RELATIONSHIP EDUCATION FOR FATHERS

Both men and women have much to offer in the development of healthy children. Science reveals that there are significant differences between the sexes, and young people are best served when two healthy parents in a healthy relationship are working together to raise healthy children.

Sadly, many mothers are struggling single parents forced to juggle the financial and relational demands of raising a family. Over time, many of the honorable qualities of manhood have been discarded. Expectations have dwindled. Children have been abandoned. And destructive patterns have been repeating themselves. WAIT Training is working to equip young men and fathers with a renewed sense of purpose, potential and pride in parenting.

Through enhanced education and inspiration, WAIT Training resolves to help fathers step up to a new level of commitment and reap the rewards of investing their energy and time with their families. WAIT Training and its fatherhood program also  teaches young boys how to be men of integrity, character and honor. Lessons taught cover how to treat women, parent children, complete their education, be a valuable  asset in the workplace and serve their communities.
